East Hartford Middle School has a Uniform Policy to maintain a safe educational environment, promote academic excellence by reducing distractions and to demonstrate school pride and a sense of community.
The EHMS Uniform Policy was established and is enforced in accordance with the regulations set forth by the EHPS Board of Education. As stated in the EHPS BOE Policy “It is the responsibility of parents to ensure their children’s dress conforms to the requirements set forth below.” If at any time a student refuses to comply they will be deemed “insubordinate” according to the EHPS Code of Conduct and may be subject to disciplinary action.
Daily Expectations of Students
Tops
- All tops must be purchased from approved vendors or be EHMS issued and approved.
- Short or long sleeve collared (polo) shirts with EHMS Logo.
- Fleece or sweater vest with the EHMS Logo.
- To build our school spirit and maintain a positive learning environment, students are allowed to wear tops that support EHMS Falcon Pride.
- EHMS approved tops that are zip-ups, sweatshirts, and dry-fit & t-shirt styles can be worn on a daily basis. All layers of TOPS worn must be East Hartford Middle School.
- Tops that represent East Hartford will be permitted as well - All East Hartford All the Time!
Bottoms
- Casual or dress pants/shorts must be sized to fit the student in solid colors or black, gray, or khaki.
- Capris or shorts in solid black, gray, or khaki sized to fit the student.
- Denim or ripped pants of any kind is not permitted.
Headwear
- Students are not permitted to wear hats or other head coverings such as hoods that are a part of hooded sweatshirts.
- Taking any action prohibited by any Federal or State law.
Footwear
- Footwear that mark floors or is deemed unsafe by administration is not permitted. Slippers are not permitted.
